Even though status updates say 'everything's great'....everything is NOT great and the online service is NOT fully fixed.
We're losing customers by the minute. Wonder why they can't resolve this mess. C'mon, Square Team - get it done!
@bumperplugs I personally haven't had any issues today with our online ordering system for 3 of our restaurants? What kind of problems have you been experiencing?
Replied earlier but it's not posted.
Online ordering from our e-commerce site - not swiped cards or manual entry.
We just found the API needed to update, NO notification from Square, NO way to contact support (quickly, in English), and no advanced warning. Would be nice to know these things in advance, vs losing dozens of customers due to checkout failing.
@bumperplugs Thank you for the update, that makes things much more clear.
I'll link the developer page here that has a link to forums, and they may have a better set of info on updates there. I am familiar with the back end workings of custom integrations, but not on the maintenance and how updates are rolled out. You also might want to post there and see if someone can direct you to updated changes. But I think your feelings are very valid on something like this.
I will say that updates sometimes roll out a few days ahead of time and then get posted. I always update my tablets manually (in addition to auto updates on) to make sure I don't have any conflicts with hardware/software. I have seen times where an iPad was acting "weird" and just needed an update to the app but the other tablet was fine. The combination of software applets, hardware differences, software versions is multitudinous and sometimes a problem like yours just isn't caught in quality control.
Glad you got it taken care of though.

My site is / was having an issue but I use Shift4Shop for webhosting and Square for CC processing. When my customers went to pay at the checkout and select a credit card not PayPal, as soon as the select the text box to enter there CC information noting happens. I tried this in the back office of my website and same issue. Shift4Shop said Square updated something and is the issue. Shift4shop and Square are working on the problem according to shift4shop. When I googled Square for being down I saw a lot of people were saying they were not able to process online orders too. This may not happen if people were using all Square website and processing. The way I found out is a customer called me, and I went to help them out and then contacted Shift4Shop thinking it was them.
Here is a link I posted yesterday about my issue.
@Candlestore Yes this is exactly right 100%. There are a lot of different ways that e-commerce is integrated or used and it really matters when there are problems. I think sometimes we can see these bugs even before the engineers and I know I try to always take the problems seriously and forward on anything I see as a bug/problem. I know in the future for me since I use square, if I see someone having a problem I am not, I am going to ask if they are using an integration or 3rd party app using the API.
I do appreciate bumper and you also updating on the outcome, I hate getting invested not to find out the resolution!!
