I have a discount that I have created called, "Clearance". I have it applied to the online store. When I look at my website, I see the item that is on sale and it's marked as a "clearance" item (because I have added the item to that discount). It shows the full price. The discount is only applied once the item is added to the cart. Is there a setting to make the discounted price show up on the item in the item page?
I have had customers tell me my sale items are marked full price on my website, they don't know they have to add it to the cart.
Hi @freethinkerstx, thanks for your patience !
What you've described is actually an expected behavior, since automatic discounts are automatically applied at checkout.
If you'd like the discounted price to be displayed, I suggest manually adding a sale price to your item(s). Unlike automatic discounts, sale prices only apply to your Square Online site and do not sync to other Square platforms. You'll find more information here.
To apply a sale price, go to your Online Overview Page :
The following screenshot should also give you a better idea of the difference between an automatic discount (left) and a sale price (right) :
On a quick note, you can offer discounts for Square Online items if you’ve set sale prices for them, but the discount will only be applied to the promotional price of the item (i.e. not the full price).
I hope this helps, but let me know if you have any questions 🙂.
Hello @freethinkerstx,
I am happy to assist. Can you provide the link to your site? Also, what item we can test this out on?
Thank you! Here is a link: https://www.freethinkerstx.com/product/flutter-sleeve-knit-top/3215?cp=true&sa=false&sbp=false&q=fal...

Thank you, I was afraid of that. I was just hoping there was an easier way that would save me a ton of time. I appreciate your response.
I can see how having the option to enable a banner for items that have automatic discounts would be useful and would make things easier @freethinkerstx. I'll share your suggestion with our Product team and invite you to file a feature request here for added visibility.
A +1 from me on this.
Perhaps not so much as the price reflecting discounted price, but the perhaps the details of the offer. For example, I have items on 2for1 or x% discount. Rather than showing just the discount name, if it showed some detail of the discount being applied, it would be much better.
In my example below, I have a discount called "Meaty Savings" which gives 15% off. I would prefer that the tag showed "Meaty Savings - 15% discount" or something similar.
A workaround is to call the discount "Meaty Savings - 15% discount" however this would cause the receipts that are printed to be a mess as it would print 15% twice (because there, the discount details DO print).
