Hi All,
I've posted previously about Google index issues with zero success in finding a solution - So this might be the final straw for me with Square.
Can anyone recommended a fix for getting category pages in my square store indexed through Google?
Currently I'm getting "No: "noindex' detected in 'robots' meta tag" error meaning pages are not served on google...
Nothing on the pages is sending "noidex" in meta tags, I actively want them to be indexed, All SEO has been completed in line with Squares SEO guides
Can anyone help - or have any experience?
Hi @David1927, thanks for your post.
I'm sorry to hear this issue is ongoing, as mentioned previously, Google Product Listings via Merchant Centre is not yet available in the UK.
While you may be able to set this up to some extent, as it's not readily available, it can lead to issues like the ones you are experiencing.
Additionally, we don’t provide SEO consultation for Square Online in our Support Centre or Seller Community. For more information on SEO for your specific website’s needs, we recommend consulting an SEO expert. The resources we do have available can be found in our Ultimate SEO Guide.
Thanks for the reply. It seems you have misunderstood. I'm not using Google Product listings via Merchant Centre as I'm aware this is not fully functional in the UK.
I'm using the Google Search Console which is fully functional (and I use with other website providers with no issues) this analyses your website and lets you know which pages are being served through Google's search engine, this is picking up indexing errors as a result of the Sqaure platform.
I'm not looking for consulting an SEO expert or SEO guides, just for a fix to an error that is occurring from Square's side - I have not given the pages a Noindex instruction (hide from search engines) yet that is the response Google is receiving.
Do square investigate technical issues?
Apologies @David1927, and thanks for letting me know.
For more complex Square Online cases like these ones, we always suggest reaching out directly to our Customer Support team who will be able to take the details of your case in real time and escalate to our Square Online team if needs be.
I hope this helps and thanks for your understanding.
Hi @David1927,
Did you have any joy with this one? I'm having the same issue. Trying to get an answer is like banging my head against a brick wall!
Thanks

Hi @Nutritive,
Same issue here, did you find a solution for this one? Currently banging my head against the wall trying to get listed on Google.
Thanks
Claire (ReefPassion)
Hi @ReefPassion, I'm sorry you're running into this issue. Can you please share a link to the web page as well as a screenshot of the error you receive? I will ask our eCommerce team for further information.
Hi @Emma_
Website is www.reef-passion.co.uk I keep getting a message from Google to say that many of my pages are not indexing on the search engine. The below is the message I am getting:
Search Console has identified that your site is affected by 1 Page indexing issue(s). The following issues were found on your site. We recommend that you fix these issues when possible to enable the best experience and coverage in Google Search.
It's an issue with the html tagging our Square site, but I can't see a way to remove.
Thanks
Claire (ReefPassion)
Hey @ReefPassion, thanks for clarifying that information. Just stepping in for Emma here.
Would you have any particular examples of pages that are not indexing? Can you provide the URL link for it, please? Thanks.
Hi @k_atie
I've sifted through the list. Some are actually items that we aren't stocking any more which is fine. However, I have found things like category pages which are tagged "noindex" according to Google.
eg https://www.reef-passion.co.uk/shop/reef-factory/29
Thanks
Claire (ReefPassion)
Hey @ReefPassion, thanks for that. I've passed the link over to our team to take another look. I'll let you know once I hear back from them.
Let me know if you need anything in the meantime!
Hey @ReefPassion, I just heard back from our team.
They have recommended that you resubmit your sitemap to Google. The example you provided is indeed visible on your sitemap and also appears as a result when they Google the link directly, which means it is indexing correctly. If you have them, they have said that screenshots of the messages you are receiving from Google would be helpful to provide context into what you are experiencing. But ultimately, things look good on our end.
Thanks!
