Multiple items in cart pulling multiple shipping instead of one

Why is shipping being added together when multiple items are added to cart? All of my shipping profiles are "per order". How do you make Square choose the most expensive option when multiple(different) items are being purchased in the same transaction? I am using the free version of the Square website.

Hey @BarrettsBalms,

Thanks for writing in! Can you share a screenshot of how you've set up your shipping profiles, and a link to your site so we can test this from our end and troubleshoot further?

Looking forward to hearing back from you 🙂

I'm having this same issue. I have shipping set up for 1-2 shirts, and then 3-4 shirts. When 2 shirts are added and the 1-2 shirts shipping is selected, it adds it twice to match the amount ordered, not 1-2 shirts for one shipping. I've tried to fix it multiple ways now and no joy.  Is this still an issue almost 3 years on, as it seems I've seen in other threads? Come on Square.

Sorry to hear you are having some trouble with your shipping settings, @FlamingEyeballG

Can you please confirm the website URL so we can take a look at the checkout page?

Thanks for posting the site. I checked the live site, but saw free shipping at checkout. Did you delete your shipping settings? If so, can you add them back in so we can try to troubleshoot together?

Thanks for looking....but you evidently did not see the correct site. I ship everything. Check this one specifically: https://flaming-eyeball-graphics.square.site/product/big-honkin-trike-rally-2023/196?cs=true&cst=cus...

To correct the shipping to make it so it would not double if there were two items ordered, I had to create a coupon for 50% off shipping, which when 2 shirts are added to the cart, the shipping is $17.05, NOT $9.90 as it should be.

I tested this shirt from your site, and was not charged shipping on the checkout screen. And this is what I see when I look at your shipping settings under Fulfillment > Shipping

**Edit to add** Oh, I see now based on the item you posted. You were creating the shipping cost using modifiers? I know some people do this for one-off items that may require extra shipping cost, but for your site I believe you will be able to use the manual shipping calculator to create your rules.

Did you try using the shipping calculator in the past and not like it? Here is a guide for setting up your shipping rules. I suggest using the quantity option or the weight option based on the items I saw on your site.

Yes, your edit is what I needed, thanks....now how do I add it to the order page?

It looks like I need to add shipping to all the rest now too, thanks for that!

Edit: looks like I'm still missing how to actually set this up. I need it to be a set rate for 1 or 2 shirts, and then a set rate  for 3-6 shirts.....but I don't see how to do that. When I set up a shipping profile, it asks me per item or per order. I need it to be per item but modified for 1-2 items, and then 3-6 items. I also need a rate for no shipping. How do I set that up?

Edit edit: Figured it out, but wow that seems complicated! Add a shipping profile...then add shipping rates, and add another shipping rate of free....and then it all shows up in the cart......but at least it seems to be calculating correctly now. Thanks for the help.

Glad to hear you are on the right track!

I noticed that your free shipping option is for pickup. Is that correct? Instead of using the shipping profile, you should enable the pickup option. When a customer orders from your site they will be able to select shipping or pickup, and then the system will automatically adjust the checkout page accordingly.

Here's a guide for setting up pickup as a fulfillment method for your store. The guide has a lot of information in it, but if you get overwhelmed just head over to Fulfillment > Pickup & Delivery, and toggle on the option for Pickup. After you confirm the pickup address you will be able to edit the settings. The page will walk you through step by step to make sure you set it up properly.

Please let me know if you have additional questions. 😊
