Last month I set our short-term rental for recurring payments. Does Square automatically send an invoice when it is a recurring payment on the date selected or do I need to go in and send the invoice myself

Recurring payments will automatically send for you. Unless you need to update something on the payment, it's a set and forget kind of thing.
