The title of this thread has been edited from the original: take payments on iPhone.

I want to add tap payments to my iPhone but I cannot find a link to sign up when I access my account. How do I start this adventure?

Hi @Onemoretimechar! Thanks for reaching out with your questions.

I've merged your additional post with your existing thread to help us track all similar feedback in one place. This approach allows us to manage requests and updates more efficiently. 😊

To accept payments with Tap to Pay on iPhone, you'll first need to make sure:

- You have a compatible device: Tap to Pay on iPhone works on iPhone XS or newer. You can verify compatibility on our device compatibility page. It's important to note that Tap to Pay on iPhone is not available on iPads.

- Your iOS software is updated to the latest version.

- Your Square App is updated to the latest version.

- Your iPhone’s Date & Time settings are set to automatic.

- Your iPhone has a required passcode set up.

- You have a stable internet connection, as offline payments aren't supported with Tap to Pay on iPhone.

If you use a phone case that holds physical cards, I recommend removing them to prevent accidentally charging your own card while using Tap to Pay. If your phone case is quite thick, I recommend removing it all together. You can also disable NFC in your iPhone settings when you aren’t processing Tap to Pay payments.

When you're ready to set up Tap to Pay on iPhone, follow these steps on the Account Owner's device:

1. Open your Square app and tap ≡ More > Settings > Account.
2. Select Tap to Pay on iPhone and toggle Tap to Pay on iPhone ON.
3. Verify the correct Apple ID is shown. If not, select Use a Different Apple ID.
4. Tap Agree & Continue to turn on Tap to Pay on iPhone.

Once the Account Owner enables Tap to Pay, the banner at the top of the screen will read ✓ Tap to Pay, and all team members under the same account with an eligible device will automatically be able to use Tap to Pay on iPhone.

I administer payments for a charity. I want to set up tap payments for an event in December. How do I do this? If possible I don't want a lot of interaction with the donor & the volunteer. The event is a photo op with Santa so we don't want long lines for the donation.

Hi Katie, thank you for your quick response. I need to authorize 2 volunteers to accept  tap to pay for donations . It’s not for sale of products. These people are not already signed on to accept any payments using Square. Will this be possible?

Hi @Onemoretimechar! Yes, your volunteers will be able to use Tap to Pay on iPhone if they have compatible devices (iPhone XS or above).

If you're the owner of the Square account, you'll need to first sign in to the Square app using your email address and follow the steps above to first enable Tap to Pay on your own device.

Then, you'll be able to add team members to your account, so they can sign in to the Square app using their own login credentials:

1. Sign in to your Square Dashboard and go to Staff > Team > Team members.
2. Select + Team member.
3. Enter the team member’s first and last name, along with their email address or phone number. Click Next.
4. Enter their primary job title, job details and pay type (hourly or salary). If the job already exists, select Primary job title or start typing the title to access a drop-down menu of existing jobs. Select Next.
5. Determine their level of access by selecting an existing permission set or select Create a new permission set.

6. Click the Edit button below the selected permission set, and ensure the following settings are enabled:
- Checkout > Basic Sale Operations.
- Account & Settings > Configure Hardware Settings.

7. Assign the locations these permissions apply to and click Save.
8. To make the team member an authorized representative, toggle on Authorized Representative.
9. Generate a personal passcode, then select Next.
10. Review the information you provided and your selections, then select Done.

11. Repeat the process for the second volunteer.

Complete instructions can be found in this Support Center article: Add and manage team members.

Thank you Katie,

We're working our way through this. Do I need to record anywhere on the dashboard, the iphone identifying info for the devices which the volunteers will be using.
