How to change Add to Cart button for Mobile?

Did Square recently did an update changing the Buy button? My website through desktop has a non-floating Add to Cart button and until about 3 days ago it was showing the same on mobile. Now it's showing as a floating Add to Cart button only mobile and I can't even change the color to match the desktop's version.

Please help. Thanks in advanced!

@TechCowboys It looks like there are some UI updates being pushed out.  I haven't seen an update post yet, but they will do this from time to time.  I noticed a change to the look of online ordering this morning (I check what the website shows for my daily special to make sure I didn't goof something up in the register).

I do see some ability to change the button and color settings under site design under the web editor, but these don't correspond to the checkout button.  If I find out more info, I will pass it along.  I think there are some different design elements in the checkout button at the moment that have to do with in stock/out of stock items and add to cart.

I have been trying to edit the add to cart button, but even if I change it on the desktop view, it won't reflect on the mobile version too. I am not sure why.

Yes, recently I noticed on a mobile device my store has an "ad to cart" pop up on every single item page. I've been trying to figure out how to get rid of it. It's in the way, it's distracting, and it looks cheap and pushy. I hate it, please tell me how I can get rid of it.

Thank you. I have also noticed the items no longer have a navigation path anymore either. For example, if something was under a category, it would have it as All products> Category > Product, but now it's not showing anything at all anymore. Please bring this back so users can go back to the products easier.

Did you find a way to fix it??? I hate it so much! It’s really bugging me. I also find that it’s hard to scroll because you have to scroll right above the pop up button without closing it

I spoke with someone at Square who told me that it's part of an update Square did and it can't be changed or removed. I agree with you, I absolutely hate it as well. It 100% looks like a pop up and when you try to hit the x to close it your navigated right off the page. I honestly can't understand how noone spoke up about how terrible of a feature that is.

I'm following this thread to see if there's a fix for this. I hate this feature, it looks very pushy.

I do not believe there are any plans to change the updated button, but I can pass along the feedback for you, and everyone on this thread.

Yes, many of our site users have complained and even thought they made a purchase, but did not (because the Google Pay button is more prominent than the actual "buy" button).

Has anyone found a way to change this awful floating "add to cart" button feature?  It's been well over a year since the last reply and still this button has not gone away.  I cannot tell you how many loss of sales (for square) I've had from my customers who finally gave up and just wrote me a check and mailed it to me.  It's pretty sad when a person finds it easier to write a check and snail mail than try navigate over this awful popup button.

My wife has had the same issue. Her customers typically only need to buy one type item at a time, so we opted to change the button to a Buy Now button. Obviously, this isn't ideal if you want people to have the option to buy multiple types of items in your store during one shopping session. But it does eliminate the awkward "X" next to the "Add to Cart" floating button (Seriously, what were they thinking?) If you'd like to try it out, follow the steps below after you login to your Square account and go to the Dashboard:

  • Click Online
  • Click Settings (near the bottom)
  • Click Checkout
  • Scroll ALL the way down to Advanced Settings and click "Edit Advanced Settings"
  • Select Buy now
  • Click Save

Like I said, this isn't a fix for stores that are trying to sell multiple types of items in one shopping session, but if your business is like my wife's (primarily service based), it might work for you. Good luck everyone!
