Recently, Square added the ability to hide out of stock items online (click here for forum post). Thank you Square; it is wonderful.
To make this feature even more beneficial for retail establishments, please consider adding a time frame to this setting (i.e. Hide "Sold Out Items" after they've been out of stock for 30, 60, 90, 180 days, etc.).
From a marketing perspective, there are instances where we might not mind out of stock items showing up on our website. For example, it might help to build the sense of urgency that "Oh, stuff sells out here so I better buy right now."
