I find it bizarre that in 2024 there is an ecommerce platform that forces me to choose between domestic and international shipping rates. I've spent weeks trying to resolve a domain migration issue with SSL certificates not being installed corrreclty, only to discover that I can't set multiple shipping rates for an item. Ready to leave and find a better solution after wasting a bunch of time on this. Frustrating. But I guess it's my fault for assuming that this would be a standard feature?
Seems like it would be a standard feature, we dont sell overseas so not too sure. the only workaround i can think of is to have 2 seperate items one for Australian Shipping and one for international shipping. not the greatest solution but the only one i can see working for you.
Hey there @crankinhaus, 👋
Thanks for touching base with your question. It would be helpful to get a bit more information about how you'd like your shipping to work, and the rates you’d like to include for the types of items you sell. We may be able to find a suitable option despite being unable to set multiple custom rates for a single item.
Are you looking to offer a different shipping rate for items based on their shipping weight? If so, setting up weight-based shipping could be a solution here.
I'll keep an eye out for your reply 😊
Thanks, no I want to be able to offer rates for domestic and international shipping. The weights will vary between those variables but there will still need to be at least two variable per weight of item: one for domestic and one for internaional rate.
Hi @crankinhaus,
It sounds like you might have created different custom shipping profiles on your account. While you can set up multiple custom profiles, you can’t add an item to more than one custom profile. You would only use the custom type to set up unique rates for specific items, or create a destination restriction.
If you'd like to offer different rates for all your items based on the region/country, you will have to select the default profile type when creating a new shipping profile. You can set up multiple default shipping profiles as long as the location information (e.g. countries) is unique to each profile.
You can then create different weight-based rates within each of these default profiles.
You'll find more information on our Support article dedicated to Setting up Shipping Areas and Rates.
I hope this helps, but feel free to let us know if you have any more questions 🙂.
