Feedback about the new Categories setup

I've been pretty neutral towards most of the latest Square updates. Some have been helpful, some have made things a little harder, nothing major in either direction. However, losing the ability to edit my categories from Square Online has thrown me for a loop. I have my shop broken down into many categories because I sell many items. In the past, I've been able to add these categories from the listing I'm making. It took me about 30 seconds to do. Now, I've got to go into each individual category, search for my item by name, wait for it to load, add the item, wait for it to load again, save, and then move onto the next category. A task that took me 30 seconds before can now take several minutes per item, and when you upload as many as I do, that really adds up.

I imagine I can't be the only seller frustrated with this change, so I wanted to add it here in hopes that someone higher up may see it and consider allowing us to edit our categories from either location again. It feels like Square is doing away with Online entirely and if that's the case, I will unfortunately have to find somewhere new to host my shop. I've loved Square otherwise so I'd really like to avoid having to do that. 😞

Hi @RatQueenLabs

I'm sorry about the frustrations you're facing, and as a fellow seller I have experienced some of the same issues with the new categories setup. While I do not have an immediate solution, what I can say is that Square is aware of many of the issues sellers are facing with the new categories setup. There is still a lot that needs to be done, but I know they are reading the Seller Community and actively addressing outstanding challenges sellers are facing. And I have been told that Square is definitely not doing away with Online entirely. In fact, they have put a renewed focus on it in the last year and continue to do so for the year ahead. The catalog convergence was part of it, and while it may pose challenges in the interim, it was designed to create unified experience across all Square offerings for the best end experience.

Let me know if there's anything I can do to help.
