I am trying to add classes (in person at our art store) to sell through my square online site and with our POS in store. On the website the test classes only show up if I enter them as a physical good in my inventory. I tried making a test as an "event" item and also "other" in the class category but neither shows up online. The only one that shows up is the "physical good" test item. Classes are not taxable, physical goods (art supplies) are, so I am trying to keep them separate. Has anyone gotten a non taxable event to show up as an item under a category online or have suggestions on how to organize this? Everything is selected to be visible and on the site. I found someone discussing this exact problem on here but the discussion had been closed. Thanks for any tips!
It sounds like you're trying to sell in-person classes through your Square online store while keeping them distinct from physical goods (which are taxable). Here are some potential solutions and suggestions to organize this:
Square doesn’t currently treat "events" or "classes" the same as physical products, and they might not show up as you expect if you categorize them incorrectly.
Create the Class as a Service rather than a physical product.
Since services aren’t taxable by default, this will keep them separate from taxable goods like art supplies.
Set Availability for your classes using Square Appointments.
Non-Taxable Option:
If you're determined to use the "Other" category, it may be related to visibility settings or the way the product is categorized.
If none of the above work, consider using a third-party integration for event or class bookings that will sync with Square for in-person payments:
Use Event Management Software: Software like Eventbrite or Acuity Scheduling can integrate with Square to offer class bookings and handle non-taxable events.
Integrate With Square for Payments: Both Eventbrite and Acuity allow you to accept payments directly through Square while managing event details separately. This option can give you more flexibility for event types and classifications.
Since Square is constantly evolving, if these options still don’t work as expected, it might be a good idea to reach out to Square Support for a potential solution, as they may have updated features or troubleshooting steps that address the specific issue you're facing. 🙂
