Etsy to Square "Item Syncing" Troubleshooting

I am trying to sync my Etsy listings with my Square listings so I can use the in-person Square card reader. Every time I sync my items on the Etsy website to Square with the Square integration, the items all show up on Square, but the number of available/stocked items shows up as a blank. I have tried working with both Etsy and Square, and neither has been able to solve the problem.

 

Has anyone else experienced this or have any recommendations? I have tried unlinking my Square account and reconnecting. I have tried starting a new location and reconnecting. I just don't know what else to do, but it makes selling in person and on my Square website virtually impossible.

Appreciate that information, @Jhhartman.

 

I reached out to our eCommerce team and it looks like the last time Etsy was linked was a few months ago. Would you be able to try to re-integrate again?

 

You should be able to disconnect from Dashboard > Settings > App Integration > click the 3 dots and click Disconnect app.

 

Once this is done, let me know if you have any luck. If not, we can keep troubleshooting.

A couple quick clarifying questions: are all of your items showing up blank when you are syncing, or is it just certain items? As well as, when you click on the individual synced items, does it show all of your item details correctly except the number available/in stock?

Yes, all of the items are coming up blank for the number stocked. It seems like all of the other information is there like descriptions, the picture, and even the section it’s in.

I have exactly the same problem. Has this ever worked for you? [or anyone?] - I am trying to set this up for the first time, and it has not yet worked despite several disconnect / reconnections.    The stock items all seem to sync perfectly each time, - for instance, any minor edit to title, description, price, or photo immediately syncs ok - but the stock level is re-set to zero on Square.

 

A related problem seems to have been fixed by reconnection:  - when I first synced from Etsy, there was no Stock Tracking enabled. So I enabled that on all items. But after the next sync, the tracking had disabled itself on some of the Square items. It continued to decompose over the next hour or so, until eventually it had disabled itself on nearly all items.  This issue seems to have been fixed by my latest disconnect/reconnect. But of course the tracking is useless at present as stock level is reset to zero on each sync

 

Has anyone ever seen this work?

Same thing happened to me. I just disabled it until it's fixed. Not to mention it seems like we will have to still pay Etsy's "transaction fee" and squares payment processing fee.

Thanks for the reply. Not great is it?  With syncing disabled, we could sell a unique item on the Square POS in the physical world (in our studio, or out at a show)  and it is still listed on Etsy as in stock, which could get embarrassing. Need to remember to update both Etsy and Square manually as soon as possible. We are not a high-volume seller so that is possible - but tedious.

Just came here to say I am going through this same issue. Inventory does not sync with Etsy, and if you go in and manually add the qty of items and turn on tracking, the next time you sync with Etsy, square will create another new variation of the item. Say you have a T-shirt that comes in S, M, L. If I manually add a qty of items in Square, then sync with Etsy, I will now have additional variations of that item, SS, MM, LL. one having a qty of 0, the other with my manual entry.

 

It's like the token that links that item to Etsy is getting lost in the mix somewhere and Square recreates the item as if it were new.

 

I have searched the community and it seems this issue has been going on for quite sometime, which is a shame because if this worked it would be a game changer for my business. SO much time is lost trying to maintain 2 separate Square shops, oner for Etsy and one for my website. 

 

If anyone has bothered to read down this far, another thing that refuses to sync is the sales tax check box, when I sync, if I have made any changes on the Etsy side to a product, the sales tax are no longer set to active on the Square side after sync. I have to end up downloading my catalog, finding which items are set to N and set them to Y and reupload.

 

If there are no plans to make the option to sync with Etsy work, why is it even a feature?

We have received a definitive answer from Etsy Support, but not good news: nope, this just doesn't work, stock levels are not synced, were never designed to sync. Has to be done manually or by a third-party app 😞

 

Charlie does say that feedback has been noted as an area where "we need to improve" so maybe fingers crossed for the future...?
