Creating an invoice from an online order

I am setting up an online ordering page and need to ability to create an invoice from the order instead of having the customer pay "up front".  I don't there is currently an option to invoice the customer via square online at this point (?).  Even if needed to manually create the invoice from the order on the backend, that would be fine.  Am just trying to allow customers to be invoiced instead of paying up front.  Has someone else tackled this issue yet?

Hey there @dwbrooks3.  Unfortunately this is not an option with Square Online stores, currently.  Though it is a good idea, and I would encourage you to submit a feature request on the Ideate Board.  I might have a couple of workarounds, however.

 

All Square POS apps allow us to create a transaction and then “close” it to an invoice.  Invoice is just another payment type, in this case, and all you would need to do is activate it on your POS device(s).  Of course, this means that customers who want to do this would have to call their orders in rather than ordering online.

 

Another option would be to enable AfterPay and allow your customers to pay that way.  Here’s a link to a getting started document on that.  An advantage of using this is that you will get paid by AfterPay more quickly and AfterPay will set up a payment plan with the customer.

 

Other than that, I’m not sure I have found a way to do what you want.  I know that I’ve wanted the ability for online customers to state that they will pay (for example, in cash) when they pickup an order.  But even that is not available, or I would have a third work-around for you.
