After 3 hours of flicking backwards and forwards between the backend and the website I have still not managed to get a discount code working. Now to be clear I mean a code word that can be used to deduct a percentage amount from the purchase of a specific item when an online customer uses this code word phrase at the checkout. Square seems to think that is sometimes a discount and other times a coupon.
Today, 3 hours ago, I created 2 code words. Both apply a % deduction to a specified item in my catalogue - one word per item = 2 code words; two entirely different items. I then went onto the website to check the codes were working.
Selected the first item and went to the checkout, typed in the code word and boom discount shown in amount to be charged. Briliant. Done. Fantastic.
Then refreshed the website and went through the process with the other item and the other code word. Code word showed up but didn't deduct anything.
Checklist of things tried
- not a duplicate code or discount phrase
- not duplicated in discounts after setting up in coupons
- yes, its active
- yup, its assigned to the item and the varation which I have in the checkout
- yes, I've recreated it with different names (And because I can't edit a discount after creating it, I have a bunch of customer friendly phrases I now can't use ever again).
- yes I've checked on the forums and google and nothing covers what I'm seeing
The only difference between the two items is that one has variations and the other doesn't. The code word which is working is on the item without any variations. There was no differnce in how I initially created the codes but they are for different % amounts.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can try because a whole marketing campaign is now in limbo whilst I work out what is going on.
