Can you create Custom Receipt Message for different item types?

[The title of this thread has been edited from the original: Custom Receipt Message For Different Items]

I am a photographer selling links to different online photography guides that are password protected. I would like to set up my receipt so that when a customer orders a different photo guide, the receipt includes the corresponding web link and access password they need.

Essentially, if you purchase the photo guide for Miami Beach, your password and link to the guide are on that email, and if you purchase the guide for New York City, then you have the link and password for that guide on the receipt.

This would save time as they would have instant access instead of me having to save the passwords on a document and then email them separately with these links after their purchase email comes to me.

Is this already possible, does it require an upgrade, or is this not yet included in Square customizations?

Hi ChrisGreenPhoto,

Unfortunately what you have in mind is not something that's available. Sounds like a good idea, perhaps you may want to submit it as a Feature Request for future consideration.  If there are others out there who have the same requirement, anything is possible.  I'm thinking it would take quite a bit of custom programming by a Developer to automate and change the receipt which is beyond the scope of this community

Additionally Square does not currently support digital downloads which would work for your needs in stead of a custom receipt - the customer purchases the guide, the system then sends the corresponding link and password automatically via email.  But, right now, you have to do exactly what you are doing - manually sending a separate email to the customer with the details and links after the purchase.

There are many 3rd party services and apps that can do digital downloads but, many don't link directly to Square.  Some of these services and apps use other payment processors while others require some configuring payment gateways via APIs.

Hey there, @ChrisGreenPhoto !

It sounds like you're looking for a smart way to automate how your customers receive unique links and passwords with their receipts. I've got some news that might just solve your problem!

SendOwl, known for its ease in handling and securing digital products, recently rolled out an app in the Square marketplace. We specialize in automatically delivering digital content like guides and images, and we can definitely help to automate the delivery and securing of your digital products.

This means no more manual emailing for you! Your clients will get instant access to their purchased guides right through their receipt, making the process smoother and more professional. Plus, you can manage everything from one spot.

If you think this might work for you, or if you have any more questions, feel free to reach out. Happy to help you streamline your photography business! 📸🌍
