Can a product have 3 lines of text the customer can enter at purchase???

I reached out to customer support, but they can't answer the question. Instead, directed me to the generic YouTube video for customizing the look and feel of the product page.

 

So, asking the Brain Trust!

 

This is for a school. The product is called an Honor Banner. Anyone can purchase to honor a student or teacher. They would enter 3 lines of text with a 75 character limit on each line their message. 

 

ie:

Mr. Thompson is an amazing science teacher!

Thank you for exciting me about biology!

John Smith, 9th grade

 

Currently, the school is using Shopify for this product. I would like to convert them to Square (they are using for other products) so everything is on one platform.

 

Can Square have the customiztion at the customer level for them to enter up to 3 lines of text at 75 characters each and checkout?? Obviously, the order must show this text on the backend so the school can print the banner.

Hey there, @KCLambeth.  So, the answer to your question is both yes and no.  Here’s where things stand now.

 

As long as the purchases are made in your online store, you can create what are called text modifiers.  You can create three of these, limited to 75 characters each — one for each line.  Of course, you’d want to at least make the line 1 modifier required and the other two could be optional.

 

At this time, however, text modifiers do not work with POS transactions — only with online transactions.

 

Hopefully, this will work for you.
