Can I 'hide' a page on my site?

Hi

I want to make my 'Shop' page on my site not viewable temporarily, but I don't want to delete it as it took me a long time to add the inventory, and I want to return it to viewable in the future without having to rebuild.

Is this possible?

Thanks

L

Hey @LouLouH, that's a really great question! I'd be happy to help you out with it. ☺️

You could make your Shop page password-protected so that if your customers try to access it they would need a password to open it. To do this:

  1. In your Square Online site editor, open the page you want to password-protect.
  2. Select the gear icon in the editing panel to View page settings.
  3. In the General tab of the ‘Page settings’ pop-up window, select the dropdown menu and choose Password protected – page level.
  4. Publish your site to see the changes live.

Note: When your password is entered on your live website, a visitor can freely browse its password-protected areas. Only when the browser window is completely closed and re-opened will the password be required again.

Additionally, using password protection requires an upgrade on your Square Online site.

Alternatively, you could also remove the navigation link so that it removes your customers' ability to access the page, without deleting your Shop page. To do this:

  1. In your Square Online site editor, select the Header section on your site.
  2. Select Navigation > Navigation links in the editing panel.
  3. To delete the navigation link, click on the bin symbol on the right.
  4. Publish your site.

To re-add your Shop page to navigation links on the header of your website:

  1. In your Square Online site editor, select the Header section on your site.
  2. Select Navigation > Navigation links in the editing panel.
  3. Select +Add navigation link.
  4. Choose a link destination in the pop-up window (in this case it would be your Shop page), and complete any other relevant fields. Select Save when finished.
  5. Publish your site to see the changes live.

Hope that helps answer your question! Let me know if you need help with anything else in the meantime.
