I'm considering upgrading my website so that I can change the domain name, but will the old square.site address still work? I don't want to change my past articles with that link. It'd be good if it still directed people to the website.
HI, hopefully this Square Support page will help.

You can setup Domain Redirects.
I read through the article, and I'm not sure it applies to me... I would be upgrading from a free online store site.
HI, I understand you would be upgrading from a free site to a paid site. You were concerned that your old articles would not be available. You could create Redirects. Meaning when the the old URL article was clicked on Google, Facebook or from where the customer reached it, they would not see any change or missing page link, it would go directly to your article on your new .com. Think of Redirects as Insurance. Insurance that your previous work is reaching the intended audience without disruption.
I just had a conversation with a Square rep, and they said when people click on the old link, it will not go to the store. I would have to change all the links that are already posted online.
HI, yes, that is correct. As stated before, YOU would need to CREATE Redirects. When the customer reaches an old link somewhere, WITH the Redirect in place, the system will be ready to continue on to the correct page without incident.
You're saying I would just need to create a redirect in one place, and then all the old links would take people directly to the site? The rep said I'd need to change every link in every article.
HI, you would need to go into your account and create a Redirect for each and every past article you wish to retain for your website.
When you purchase your .com, the .com will direct to the .square.site website you created.
You can purchase a .com with a domain provider or with Square.
With domain provider you have ownership and control. When purchased you adjust the DNS settings and the .com will work within a matter of hours.
If you purchase a domain and do a full transfer, it can take up to 14 business days to work.
I appreciate you trying to help me, but I still think we are talking about two separate things. When I say "article" I'm talking about articles that I post to my blog (which is entirely separate from square.site) in which I have publicized and linked the square.site address.
HI, thank you for including this additional information. You can create a new page in the Online Store Editor that links to your blog articles.
