Adding value to a gift card

For sales sales online with gift cards, we do promotions that they buy $100 but the gift card becomes a value of $120. Is there an easy way to reflect that with the gift card so that they make the purchase and it shows the added value immediately?

We do a similar promotion for Black Friday ($50 gc for $40). We do it "backwards" from you. We have them purchase a $50 gift card and then apply a discount code of $10. You can set up the discounts in the Gift Card section of your dashboard. I like it because you can set a "minimum load" so that the $10 discount is ONLY for orders over $50. In your case, you can have a $120 giftcard with a $20 discount. Here's where you can find it on your dashboard (you can see how mine is set up).

Right, but when they send the e-gift card to someone, it shows the lower value. We want the card to reflect the extra value (so in your case, you want it to show it is $50 even though they paid $40). That’s my question.  And when someone comes to us to redeem/use the $100 they have, we don’t know if it was purchased during the promo and should be $120, if that makes sense.

Nope! When you use the discount function, the e-gift card gets sent to the recipient in full without them knowing the discount was applied. So in my case, they pay $40, but get a $50 gift card in their email. I can look in my portal and see what they paid for the card (so I can see if they used the promo), but when they go to use it online or in store, it functions just like a regular $50 gift card.

I did a screenshot of the section of your dashboard where you can configure the discount. You can find these settings at https://app.squareup.com/dashboard/gift-cards/electronic/discounts
