404 errors

I've lost so much business this year. I set up another location since I have some of my items available locally. Now the items show up as error when clicked. At least in mobile where most people shop from, and it's not consistent. I've had friends check and they get the same, at least on mobile. I can't keep losing business and I'm glad I haven't switched to a paid account yet.

So frustrating.

Yes, very frustrating. This is happening right at my busy season so I've lost business for sure. I'll keep at it.

Well I guess square isn't going to help with this. As of this morning, my site still has the 404 error.

I have noticed this morning though that in Firefox it's showing the error the opposite of Chrome.

In FF the items I have at my home location (the original location) are showing the error when clicked.  And the items at a secondary location I created (a shop downtown, set for pick up only,) shows error when clicked.

In Chrome the items at the secondary location show the error.

I haven't had a chance to check all the photos yet to be sure they're all jpeg instead of some being png and don't being jpeg, but that's what I'll try next. The errors showing differently though is conflicting with the theory that the 2 image types being used are causing it. And the fact that it all started when I created a secondary location.

I should probably try deleting the secondary location and see what happens.

In any case I haven't heard a thing from square after the initial contact through email saying they were looking into it.

Hello @tessa

I understand this is a pressing issue and can assure you we are working to get you back to selling.

After partnering with our support team and completing an initial troubleshooting, we escalated this issue and it is being investigated by our engineering team.

While we don't currently have a timeframe for when we’ll have this fixed, our engineers are working to address all issues submitted, and will get them resolved as soon as possible.

I'll make sure to communicate with the team this new information you're sharing.

So far, our investigation suggests that this is caused by the different locations having different fulfillment methods set up and not related to the image type used, but I would still recommend using the same type throughout the site, preferably the type that allows a smaller file size without compromising image quality.

When updates become available, we'll make sure to keep you posted.

I'm just now seeing this so sorry for the slow response. I'm not sure what's going on now. Not only are there still 404 errorsl, but now things I set as sold, show they're available. Things I never set as sold are showing they're sold.

And it gets worse. Somehow I became a professional account and was charged. I'll be turned off if I don't resubscribe for something I never signed up for in the first place.

Now I'm **bleep**ed.

update as of today. it just keeps getting better and better ( insert heavy sarcasm!)

This morning i got a code on my phone for log in which prompted me to look at my site. I changed my pw.

A few days ago I went in a disabled the second location which was when all the trouble started. My site sorta went back to normal. a few things were showing sold so I fixed those. Not all of them would show even with everything set back. support had also set my account for professional and sent me emails saying they could charge me and to update payment. I never signed up for professional account. My site also said not accepting orders in the app but you could add things to cart online. Those two things were there before I removed the second location.

This morning after I got the code on my phone I went and looked at my site and a bunch of stuff shows sold out now.

I think I'm done. Just terrible.

I’m just talking out loud with some thoughts on this. The code you mentioned getting on your phone - did you use the link provided in the message? If you did, it could have been sent from someone trying to gain access to your account. It’s just a guess but it kind of seems likely if you have now supposedly signed up for something you didn’t.

I suggest trying to log into your square account directly (without the link that was provided in the message). If you still have access to your account, immediately change your password. If you find your account has been compromised, contact Square directly for help to recover it.
