The title of this thread has been edited by a Square Moderator from the original: "mPOP drawer will no longer open.. driving me mad"
The drawer stopped opening for cash sales about a week ago, I assumed it was a software update and would be fixed at some point however its not the case. I've disconnected and reconnected, powered off on, removed device, set up new printer profile but can not get it to open.
The open cash drawer button under 'hardware' is no longer available.
Printer still works and prints fine (however it prints 3 copies not 1??)
its connected by Bluetooth
Well..... after trying to get this fixed last week to no success I put it down to the mPOP being faulty!!
But when looking at the square app this morning, I noticed that there was a 'update' available, so I downloaded it.
And guess what......... The drawer now opens, so this was definitely a bug in the software and not a fault of the printer.
Hi @CampingMan and welcome back to the Square Community, although I'm sorry to hear this issue with your cash drawer has brought you here 😞
It sounds like you may have a printer-driven cash drawer. This type of cash drawer is connected to your receipt printer by a special cable. When you send a print job, such as at the end of a transaction, the printer will send an electric signal to open your drawer. I recommend starting out with the troubleshooting steps listed here. Regarding the multiple copies being printed, it sounds like you could have multiple printer stations created for this single printer.
You can check to make sure you don't have multiple printer stations by following these steps:
Give this a try, and let me know how it goes for you. I'll keep an eye out for your reply!

Thanks for following up to let me know, @CampingMan 🙏 I'm happy to hear the app update was able to resolve the issue! I've marked your reply as the Solution to this question.
We sometimes see sudden issues like this from outdated versions of the app. If you notice something funny like this again, checking for app updates is a great place to start to eliminate any errors 🙂
Hope you have a great week!
