how to allow staff to view their credit card tips for payout??

As a bar, we use Square Stand w/ Square POS. We don't do table service, reservations, kitchen tickets, etc. It's just walk-up service at a bar. Square POS has been working really well for us because it doesn't have a bunch of restaurant extras to confuse the staff and it's straightforward. However, I can't figure out how to have the staff do credit card tip payouts from cash in the till at the end of night (standard practice in a bar), unless we make every customer sign a paper receipt. This leaves them with hundreds of scribbled receipts to input and count by hand at the end of the night, which takes up a lot of time and leads to mistakes.

 

We'd like to just swivel the square stand and have customers sign & tip onscreen, instead of going through all this barely legible paper, but there doesn't appear to be any way for staff to see a tip report. Why isn't it included on the day report that prints out? Is there another report I can have them look at while they're using the Square stand, to know the credit card tip total for their drawer? Doing it after the fact, with staff switching at the last minute, leaving early or staying late depending on how busy it is, is just not feasible. Everyone's happy with figuring out the tips themselves, we just want to ditch the receipt system and go to signing onscreen. 

 

However, Square Restaurant would be way too many bells and whistles for us, and just lead to confusion since we don't have tables, table service, reservations, or running tabs. We need customers to just pay at the time of ordering, at the counter. Thanks.

Have you enabled tipping on your Point of Sale yet? You would need to do this in order to allow your customers to tip on the screen of your point of sale at the end of a transaction. If you do not wish to allow your customers to wite in tips on printed receipts, you would need to disable the "sign and tip" setting.

In order to make the best suggestion for you on the reporting front, I'll need to confirm some details about your setup. Do your employees currently log in to the point of sale with a personal passcode or do they share a log in? Will your employees be splitting tips or pooling them together?

[There's no longer a login button for Seller Community, so I was forced to create a new account.] As stated above, we have tips enabled and we are using printed receipts, which means inputting and then counting up hundreds of barely legible tips at the end of the night, leading to mistakes. We want to switch to having customers sign their tips onscreen, instead of signing on paper, but we need a way for employees to see the credit card tip Total for the day (in the POS system, not using the online dashboard) so they can pay out the pooled tips to themselves. They do not log in with personal codes, there are only 2 or 3 employees working at a time, only 1 or 2 using the register, and they all share tips whether they're ringing things in, making drinks, or keeping up on dishes, because they're all helping each other on each sale.

 

There is not always a manager there at 2 am when we close. There should be some sort of Tip Report they can access from the POS system, as with every other POS system, but I am not seeing one anywhere. It is not listed on the day report that prints out when they close out a drawer. They do not, and should not, have access to the dashboard the owners have access to online. This should be in the POS system on the ipad but I can't find it.
