I have a dilemma, I have been using my iPad in a square stand. Unfortunately the iPad was damaged (3 days ago) and the new one will not work in the stand. ( I LOVED the stand!) I have a Square terminal on order. I will still want to use my iPad as my main register, but take payment via the terminal. Will the terminal integrate with the iPad via bluetooth? I guess what I mean is, if I create the sale on the iPad will the amount due transfer to the terminal. OR will I need to connect via a hub? I do not use any other devices so I have really never needed the hub other than to plug the stand in.
I vend at a lot of events where WiFi is not available, and I use my cell service. I leave for my largest event of the year next Monday, so I have 3 business days to figure this out! I want to be sure I have all I need before I leave.
Hi @jenniferpatters. Actually, this capability was recently announced. It is called Connected Terminal. I have used it in my store for two seasons now (starting with the beta tests) and my customers and I love it! Note that you’ll have to have some sort of internet connection for this to work, even if it is a WiFi hotspot that both your POS and terminal connect to. This does NOT work in offline mode. But as long as you have that, you should be good to go.
Click on the link I provided called “Connected Terminal” and you’ll see the instructions, including a video. After you’ve tried it out, if you have any further questions, post them here. I’ll see them and will reply. Like I said, I’ve used this setup for two seasons and absolutely love it!

Dang I wish they still sent out user manuals, I have gone through I don't know how many web pages over the last 3 hours and STILL can find my answer!! I picked up my new terminal, I managed to connect it to my iPad......so far so good. I did a test cash sale (which I need printed receipts for most often) ........no receipt, a pop up that says terminal must be in "idle" mode. Is "Idle mode" when there is just a square symbol on the screen?? I did the swipe from left and found the settings. But still don't get a printed receipt from an ipad cash sale.
@jenniferpatters Currently connected terminal will not print receipts for cash sales. I’m pretty sure this is something on the roadmap, but can’t say for certain. Your best bet for those is to either text or email them, I’m afraid. Connected terminal is only for take payments for iPad sales and for printing receipts for card sales processed through the terminal.
I tested the CC payment too, it didn't print a receipt for that either.
Swipe left-to-right on the Terminal. Then Hardware > Printer. Make sure that Receipts is turned on, and that you have the paper loaded correctly. The click the print test button. It should work then.
