Since Saturday we've had problems with tap to pay (credit cards and apple pay). About 25% of tap payments are hitting us with a Red "Payment Failed. Please try again." message (see photo below). Inserting the card works after the message, just tap to pay is failing.
We tried our backup customer facing display AND a new cable connecting the register to the display and it's still doing it.
How should we proceed? Nothing is up on issquareup.com about this, but it seems to be something on the server side.
Hi @sammyg - I'm sorry to hear that this issue with your Square Register has brought you to the Seller Community.
There were some reported issues with Apple Tap to Pay on Thursday but this has since been resolved.
Since you mentioned this is occurring on more than one of your customer displays, I suggest preforming a factory reset for your register. This will ensure that your register is on the latest version of its software as well as your customer display (connected at the time of the reset). If this doesn't improve things, please reach out to Support directly by logging into your Square account and heading here for further assistance.
