Square terminal linked to standard POS

I have the standard Square POS currently in our coffee shop. This mans turning the screen each time to ask customers to tip and print their receipts. I would like to connect the square terminal. We would still complete transactions on the iPad but want the terminal for customers to tip and pay - is this possible? Do the customers then only see the final display page with tip and payment options, or do they see the transactions and itemized transaction as it is taking place?
