Square reader setup problems

Just bought a Square reader (which I need for an antiques fair on Sunday!). When I connect the reader to my phone using the Square POS app, I get a message saying "Account not activated". When I click on "Get Started", it takes me to a page asking what hardware I want. When I skip this page (because I already have a reader), it takes me back again to "Account not activated".

How can I activate my account to enable me to use the reader?
