Square Customer Display and ipad

I use my own iPad with the square app, linked to the square terminal. 

 

I am curious if I purchased only the square customer display replacement portion of the Square Register, if I can use that with my iPad instead of the square terminal. I'm lookin for a larger customer display/card reader that I can connect to my iPad, without purchasing the entire square register.

 

Alternatively, could I use the square stand as a card reader/customer display connected to my ipad

Hey there @jamiec8706.. As far as I can tell, neither of those is possible.  The customer-facing display for the Register only works with Register, and I don't think you can even purchase it separately from it.  At least, I can't find that option in the Square Store.  To your alternative, there used to be an option to connect another iPad to the basic Square App for customer display purposes.  But, even if that is still available somehow, it did not work with the Stand -- it was just a display, only.  Your only choices, really, are a) the setup you have, b) a Square Handheld which is also small format, or c) to purchase and use a Register instead of your current setup.

Hi @jamiec8706, welcome to the Square Community! 

 

@TheRealChipA, is correct on this. Unfortunately there is not a workaround for any of the configurations you mentioned. As @TheRealChipA mentions, if you are looking for a larger screen, the Square Register may be the best option for this situation. Apologies that we don't have any workarounds on this.

 

In the meantime though, please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.
