Re: Square Register Pricing

I see this is an old thread but I'm considering upgrading from the Terminal to Register. Can anyone tell me how easy it is to set up and use? In particular, I don't use employee identification on the Terminal because many of my salon employees don't speak much English and apparently not capable of understanding technology. So is it possible for them to sign in on the Register by touching a picture of themselves, instead of entering some PIN number? I see that you can add pictures of inventory to the checkout menu so it's capable of storing and displaying pictorial info.

Hi @DaveH5050 - Thanks for reaching out to us here on the Square Seller Community👋

I went ahead and moved your post to the Square Register board here on the Community and created a new thread to help gain some attention from your fellow Sellers. I will tag a few here who have experience with the Square Register for their input: @Doran @mdgolden01

We have some helpful guides and information here on setting up and using your Register. If you are already using Square and have your items set up in your Item Libray, the setup process will be fairly simple as your account information will populate when you sign in on the Register.

To address your question about using an employee photo vs a PIN number, this would be considered a feature request. To learn more about how feature requests work, please see this post from one of our Seller Community Moderators.

I hope this information is helpful but please do let me know if you have any additional questions.

Hi @DaveH5050 I switched from terminal to register about a year ago.  It was an easy switch.  The setup was simply remove from the box and login.  From there all my information from my terminal (prices, logins, items, etc) were already there.  It took some time to get used to where things are in the register but I find it pretty simple.

The hardest part for me was connecting the cash drawer/printer I purchased.  After a few tries, I got it all to work perfectly.

I can't help with the picture/pin code question since I work solo these days.  But, I'm not really great with technology and struggled with the terminal.  The register has been a breeze in comparison.  I'm happy with the decision to switch and I keep the terminal charged and ready for any power loss or blackout emergencies.
