During the recent outage we attempted to trouble shoot the issue at first. We took the following steps that have worked in the past when our square pos went offline.
1.) Unplug the pos terminal and reconnect power
2.) Restart the Ipad
3.) Sign out of square and attempt to sign back in.
The last step is what prevented us from taking offline payments during the outage. We did not know it was a system wide failure.
Is there a way to accept offline payment when this happens? If not this needs to be addressed for future outages and you know there will be some. If you can't take payments you have to close your doors and depending on your business type that is money you will never get back.

If you can't sign in to your account there won't be any way for you to accept card payments. You'll need an alternative method to do so.
