Minimum hardware requirements to use the cash transactions recording facility

Hi Square Friends! As a small Op Shop, we have been using the square app on Iphone with a square card reader for eftpos transactions.  Now we want to incorporate our cash transactions. Can we do this using the Iphone Square App, or do we need more/better hardware.  If so, what is the least cost option to upgrade to? Thanks in advance for your advice.

Hi @Rescuefurbabies

You can take cash transactions on the iPhone Square app. You don’t need any hardware, perhaps a lockable cash box to keep the cash in one place and safe. Next level up would be iPad with the app attached a cash draw. There are details of compatible hardware on the square site. We have a thermal printer and cash draw linked to the iPad. It pretty easy to connect, and the draw opens up on completion of the transaction.

Sadly, I cannot find how to do a cash transaction on the Iphone square app.  When I select cash management as an add-on, I get this add-on is noit supported on this device (iphone 14). More specific command string would be appreciated.

Here's how you can record cash transactions on your app @Rescuefurbabies

1. Add an item, or custom amount to a sale.

2. Tap Review Sale > Charge.

3. Select Cash as the payment type.

4. Enter the amount you're tendering. The app will also tell you how much change is due.

5. Finalise the sale by sending a receipt and take the cash amount.

If you're not seeing cash as a payment option, it's possible that you haven't enabled it as a payment type yet. Learn how to edit your payment types here

I hope this helps, let me know how you go 🙂
