I was absolutely furious when I noticed today that one of the recent updates to Square for Retail changed our tip settings. We were using Smart Tips for charges under $10, and then 10%, 15%, & 20% for charges above $10. Now our tips have been changed to 15%, 20%,& 25%!!!! 25% is preposterous!!! I was so embarrassed that we have been suggesting to customers a 25% tip!!!! So I went to change the settings back, and to add insult to injury now you can only use smart tips for sales under $10, IF you leave the 15,20,25% tip options!!! So to force the 10,15,20% to work now sales under $10 only offer the percentage instead of the $1,$2, or $3 suggested option. SQUARE. DO BETTER!!!! This makes two issues in just the last 3 days!!!! First the iOS dashboard app quit working and now this. Do you all test ANYTHING before you release it??? As I always beg for, stop messing with cosmetic changes and start focusing on software integrity!!!
Hey @MountainHouse ,
I'm sorry to hear that you are having trouble, but I'm using both Retail and Restaurant modes and I did NOT have any issues with my tips over the last several days.
With that being said, Smart Tips has always applied to purchases of $10 and less. I have never seen percentages applied to that low of an amount unless the Smart Tips was shut off. Also, I have not had my percentages change, so I can't help but wonder if someone other than yourself changed the tip setting percentages and shut off smart tips. Possible?
My proof is that we have NEVER offered a 25% tip option, and now if you use SmarTip it forces the 25% option... If someone on my end had changed it then I could simply turn smartip back on and keep the 10,15,20... SmartTip is FORCING 15, 20, 25%
