How can I see the name of customers whose card I swiped

Hi.  I'm very new to square.  I take payments using square and a mobile phone.

I have taken a payment and cannot identify the customer.  How can I do this, so that I can allocate the payment correctly in my accounting records?

I have looked on my Square Dashboard and can see the payment in transactions, I can see the receipt but still only have an amount and cannot identify a name of the purchaser

Any help would be appreciated

Hey @Fergwyn,

For privacy reasons, a seller's name is not automatically recorded when you take a card payment.

If you want to add customer details to a transaction, you're able to do this via Customer Directory features. You'll need to have already added a customer to a transaction to search by name though.

If you are in touch with a customer about a transaction, one way to identify which is theirs is via the last 4 digits of the card used - this can be found on the transaction listing either by clicking a transaction on the app or in the transactions section of your dashboard.
