Gen 2 has no swipe option for gift cards - mag stripe reader not working with new customer display

We recently had to upgrade our Gen 1 V1 POS to Gen 2, as it was not "communicating" (open tickets) with other POS.

The new Gen 2 POS Customer Display has a slot for the chip reader, an icon for tap to pay, but it does not have a swipe option.

To mitigate this, we inserted a USB-C mag stripe card reader on the side of the customer display to be able to swipe gift cards (or cards that only swipe); however it does NOT work

I took the reader and plugged it into my phone and had no issues swiping a gift card, so I know it's not the swiper that's the issue, it's the customer display!

Is the Gen 2 POS Customer Display not compatible with the mag stripe card reader?

This is a huge issue for issuing, checking balance, etc. on gift cards and will slow down business a lot as we will have to manually type in gift cards.

Any help would be appreciated.

This is great info. I was about to buy the 2nd Gen and will refrain for now. I get a lot of swipe only GC's and chips that fail and have to be swiped. Unbelievable. I think they purposely slowed down processing on Gen 1 to force people onto the new one, as Gen 1 used to have lightning fast processing. Is processing chip cards/NFC payments significantly faster for you now that you're on Gen 2?
