Black box pop-up after item placed in cart

I would assume it was an update or an option that was turned on, but every time an item is added to the cart it pops up a black box with a description for a few seconds.  Its annoying and a slow down to the check out process.  How do we turn it of20250709_150458.jpgf?

First, can we confirm which version your Register is on? 

1. Tap ≡ More > Settings > Hardware > General.
2. Tap About Square Terminal or About Square Register or About Square Handheld.
3. From this page, you’ll see your software version.
4. You can also tap Check for Update to see if a software update is available.

OS version is 5.57.0122

App Version  6.73

The software report it is full up to date.

 

The black boxes will quit appearing when the register is reset.

Then it comes back after a while

Any resolution? I’m having the same issue as of today. It did an update this morning. Totally unacceptable as we have  over 5k days and this slows our check out down tremendously

If you restart the register is will not happen for a while... But other than that I have heard nothing

II happen to notice today, resetting the system did not solve this.  But logging in with the owner passcode does take care of it for a bit.  Logging in with the team password seems to have no effect.  If anyone else has any input please post

Why has this issue not been updated??? I’m getting the same annoying black pop up using the app on my iPhone connected to a reader. Every time I add an item it pops up and blocks the screen and I have to either wait for it to drop away or hit the X to make it go away….but then it comes back every time I add and item to the order. This is RIDICULOUS and even more frustrating that NO ONE has responded or that there is no way to disable it in any of the settings…in app or online in the dashboard. GET THIS FIXED ASAP ITS WASTING MY F ING TIME.

Just adding in my 2 cents in case Square is looking at this and we are also unhappy with the black pop up update. Greatly slows down checkout processes. Square, please take it away or add an option to turn it off!
