Why will my online store not process paypal - Transaction has been declined to comply with...

I have just set my online store and it seems to work most of the time OK when using credit card payments, but anytime a paypal payment is attempted, it gives an error:

"Transaction has been declined to comply with international regulations"  Paypal say it is not on their end, and I have tried it with different store items, from different countries and locally, but all paypal purchases give this same error.  Any ideas??

Hey @mikasdesign,

Thanks for getting in touch!

I'd not heard this one before, but did a google search and this seems a common problem for PayPal users across different web platforms. A search suggests it may have to do with government regulations relating to countries with trade embargoes - though to be honest I'm not going to pretend to know the exact cause, that's info that I garnered based on a brief search.

One thing that seems common is that this is specifically a PayPal error, as people are reporting the same error message online across different web platforms.

Out of interest, is this happening with all PayPal payments from a range of different customers? I wonder if it may have something to do with your business name setting off a PayPal flag?

Thanks for your reply.

The business name is pretty standard, and yes, it happens for all customers trying to order via paypal, regardless of whether they are local to Australia, or O.S, and regardless of product type.

Very frustrating indeed....lots of unhappy customers, so I think I will need to pull paypal until I can get some resolution.  Cheers
