I have a weird charge from my square on my personal account.

Hey guys,

This is a bit confusing, sorry in advance. So I was looking at my personal bank account statement and noticed a charge from square with my business name attached in the amount of $174 on August 10. Strange because I don't even have my personal account linked to my square, only my business account. I looked through my transactions and on that same day I charged a client $174. I called square and they said no charges had went through in that amount on my personal account from square. So I contacted my bank and they said the purchase was made at 2:02pm on August 10. I looked at my square transaction and sure enough i took payment at that exact time from my client. And the money was deposited into my business bank account 2 days later. Any idea why and how my personal account was charged? I find it so strange, and want my money back lol. Has anyone had a similar experience? Am I missing something? Thank you!

Hello @Raeschell , we see its your first community post, Welcome!

While we don't have the ability to fully dig into account specifics here in the seller community, we may be able to provide some direction as to what you may be seeing:

Just a few clarifying questions to keep in mind here...

Do you recall making any purchases with any Square merchants during that time frame for that amount?

Also if you are certain that it was an actual charge on your end to one of your customers, Square's automated system sends funds to whatever bank account you have linked and verified on your dashboard.

Pretty much unless you made changes to your verified bank account, funds would not be sent to any other account than what is listed in your dashboard or whatever linked debit card you may have on file if any.

We hope this provides some insight, but if you still have any further questions, its best to contact our support team for some further in depth analysis into your account.

You can also click this link here to learn more about how funds are transferred as well as checking verification status for the bank you have linked in your dashboard.

Hope this helps!
