Cost Discount

In meeting with our accountant today, he has requested that when the shop needs to use an item that is in inventory - that instead of doing a sale and a 100% discount - that we do, two discounts... The first discount he would like to see is a "Cost" discount, followed by a $ amount discount of the balance.

The ask here is that the cost of goods sold is the cost of the item - and this needs to be accounted for differently - then just doing a full 100% discount - to account for inventory reductions.

Is it possible to create a "Cost" discount that would look at the item, refer to the cost as set-up in ShopVentory - then apply that $ amount to the transaction?

Thank you for asking this question, JP. We are also interested in a similar feature.

We would like to be able to purchase items at cost from our own store. Not all our products have the same margin. We looked into the coupon feature but it doesn't seem to solve for every/any item, especially when purchased in bulk.

What is the correct way to enable owners to purchase items from the online store, at cost?

Thanks!

Yes - Square does not track costs - so we had to move to use ShopVentory - which does track costs - and a lot more. Now we need to allow for Square to reach out and access that SV database and get the cost that we enter - so we can discount that dollar amount. Otherwise, it will require a lot more work on our part.
