Why did SQUARE get rid of "payment links" on the item page?

In order to get a item link, I now have to go to a separate page, leave the item page. and key word search for the item I just created, when I could toggle button to turn on link a couple days ago. 

Instead of the create a link feature, it's Share on Social Media. No I don't want to edit how it looks on social media. I just need a link.

It's not even on Channels, which is a somewhat logical place to have buried it. 

The only way I can turn on link is via an older mobile app, and if they update this, I will lose my mind. Then I have to do to the desktop dashboard to be able to copy the link. 

When they launched a new UI they used to have the option to "Use the old UI" back button. That's what I need now.

Only on mobile version is fast to create the link in items

Links was the absolute last thing on the item page. I would like to see it in the new channels sidebar, but it's not there, or anywhere on desktop. I shouldn't have to get out of square online to go to my home page and Payment links.

OK, still can't create payment link when creating a new item.  Here's my current approach.

1. Create an item and save it.
2. Then go to your dashboard, click items & inventory.
3. Then click items
4. Scroll down to settings & click it.
5. Scroll down to payment links. 
6. From there you can see all the links you already have.  You can click the create link button at the top of the page.
7. Click create link, and then you want to click sell an item, then the continue button at the top of the page.
8. From there, search for your item in the drop down box.
9. Choose your item and save it.
10. The link will then show up for the item in the Item Library as usual.

This is ridiculously complicated and time consuming (MANY STEPS) compared to the "old" (and MUCH better) way of just creating a link while creating the item (ONE STEP).

Yeah, I won't do this. I did document that I did these steps in my original post. They really did a diservice.

The payment link pictured in the black pill isn't/wasn't there before. I will see if its there now.

Thanks for hanging in there, everyone. The only information I’ve been given is that this change was made to streamline the item-creation flow and make it more intuitive for new users. At this time, it doesn’t look like this will be reverted.

@MayaP Streamline? The create shareable link was literally the last function on the create item screen, it was easily ignorable but immensely useful. Please make a feature request for this, so we can have it back:  @ddofg @sunnyevents @blricketson @gouldstore @gameknightsshep
