TIPPING ON DISCOUNTED PACKAGES

The only option to tip our service providers when a customer purchases a package is during their initial checkout. No option to tip when they are redeeming their package. Checkout is 0.00 when they are redeeming their package and the tip screen is not prompted. This is a major flaw. I just switched over from Vagaro, who understands how important this is. Square- who is much bigger than Vagaro- please figure out how to promt the screen to show what the service would have cost, even though it is discounted 100% so that customers can leave tips for our estheticians.

Please implement a prompt for clients to use to tip when checking out with a package they purchased. Please also allow tipping when purchasing a package on square online store.

Hey there @PPJT.  This is an ongoing issue with Square and it is even bigger than your particular situation.  Hopefully, a Square Moderator can direct you to some feature requests about this so that you can weigh in on those.  But, so far, there is no resolution to it.  

 

At this point all you can do is either accept tips only in cash, or you can create a new item in your library for manual tips.  In this case, you’d leave the price blank when you create the item, which makes it a variable priced item.  Then whoever checks out the customer can ask if they’d like to leave a tip and they could enter that amount before swiping the card.  Note that if you also use Square Payroll, however, these manual tips would not be automatically imported into your weekly payroll.  You’d have to manually add them to team payroll records when you process it.  No, it’s not ideal, but it works.

I took a look at the Square Appointments Packages roadmap that our Product Team manages. I can see this is on their radar and is something they're hoping to implement, although we do not have an ETA at this time. We would provide more information closer to launch, but in the meantime, I recommend keeping an eye on the Product Update Board for Square Appointments here in the Seller Community.

 

For now, as a workaround, you could create a variable priced item for tips, (if you haven't already) so you can still charge the customer for the amount of the tip they'd like to give. I do realize this isn't the ideal setup you're looking for, but please know that we value your input and are always looking for ways to enhance our services to better meet the needs of our users.

I am wanting to set up packages now that square is offering. My question is a client allowed or permitted to leave a tip when checking out using the package?
