Delivery and Pick Up Options for Subscriptions

Hi! I have a flower shop and am looking to bring back my floral subscription program. Maybe I'm missing something but I see that currently subscriptions are only available for shipping. It would be helpful if subscriptions were available for pick up and delivery as well. Would appreciate any feedback anyone has on this.

Adding my voice to this. The lack of functionality is killing our subscription offering and our business! We're a florist that offers weekly, fortnightly, monthly and 3 monthly flower subscriptions.  We switched to square so we could manage these better, but it's a complete mess.

 

We only offer local delivery on all our items, including subscriptions. We desperately need these to be available for local delivery and collection. Having to list them as "shipping" is causing us to lose lots of orders, and is very confusing for our customers. These are the issues we have...

 

  1. Due to the unintuitive, confusing and unclear way that Square forces people to choose a delivery/collection date in the basket, we have to use the "Order Online" template for our main item page in an attempt to give customers a slightly better chance of knowing how to change dates. This means they get a pop-up that forces them to choose "collection", "delivery" or "shipping" before they even see our items. Depending on which option they choose, some items aren't shown to them on the online order page.

    For example - If someone lands on our ordering page and chooses delivery from the pop-up, they are only shown bouquets that are available for local delivery. This means people don't even know we offer subscriptions for delivery if they choose this option. To see the subscriptions they have to physically go back to the fulfilment bar at the top of the page, click it, click the little pencil next to "deliver to", choose shipping, and then click update. It's incredibly long-winded and the majority of customers just won't know to do this. They're more likely to see the "collection, shipping, delivery" options, get confused, and back out of the sale. Or they choose one option, assume we only offer a very limited selection of items and abandon the order. 

    (On a side note - it makes no sense to have both delivery and shipping shown to customers, as to most people, they both mean the same thing.)

    Until Square listens to their customers and makes the checkout/date choosing much more user-friendly, using the order online template is the best option we have. So in lieu of that happening (it's been asked for since 2021 as far as I can see!), allowing subscriptions to be available for collection and local delivery would solve a lot of problems as we wouldn't have the "shipping" option on the order online page.

    As a quick fix work-around, could we have a "see all items" link in the category menu on the order online page (like there is on the "shop all" template) that shows all items regardless of their fulfilment method?

  2. Not being able to set a billing date for anything other than monthly subscriptions is unworkable and makes keeping track of orders incredibly difficult. We process and deliver (locally!) all our subscription orders on the same day. Not being able to set billing dates for weekly and fortnightly subscriptions in particular means we've missed orders and find it really hard to tell which ones go out on each delivery round. We also need the ability to set order cut-off times for subscription orders so we can manage them efficiently.  

    For example - We make all our subscription bouquets on Friday mornings and deliver on Friday afternoon. For people who order before 5pm on Wednesdays, we deliver 2 days later on the Friday. (Order after then and we deliver the following Friday.) At the moment, if someone orders a subscription then their order comes through as soon as the order is placed. This means we can have order tickets hanging around for weeks or months before it's time for the bouquet to be delivered, which inevitably leads to mix-ups, forgotten orders and lost tickets. (I know we can manage these on our POS but some of our subscription orders are attached to a different location, and can't be changed despite trying, so they don't show on our main POS. Ohh, the joys of Square! 😂)

    If we were able to set a billing date for all frequencies of subscription, we could have them all print just after our cut-off date and know exactly how many bouquets we need to send out that Friday. No lost orders, no unhappy customers.


  3. The shipping option doesn't allow us to set a delivery radius for orders, so being forced to use this option means that we often get orders from customers who live miles away. We have lots of written instructions cluttering up our item pages to try and stop this, but people still order as the "checkout allowed me to, so I thought it was OK". We have to cancel orders and disappoint people, which makes us look very unprofessional! 

Apologies for the very long post, but I wanted to try and make you understand how difficult the subscription (and whole ordering/date choosing process in general) is for customers and businesses. It needs a serious overhaul but all the pleas I've read on the community pages seem to be falling on deaf ears. I hope something changes soon as I and plenty of other users need this to run their businesses to their full potential. 

 

I do hope you consider this as an urgent feature request. We love so many of square's features and would like to keep using the platform, but this is quite a serious stumbling block that is making us consider other options as we grow our business. 

 

PLEASE add pick-up as an option for subscriptions! We are a coffee shop and roastery with many subscribers that pick up their bags of coffee in our local shop. We are currently using Shopify for this functionality, but would LOVE to move all our business to Square. Please add this feature!

We also have need of this feature as we want to deliver a food box in our own van within a specific area but offer this as a subscription.

 

Please could we see this feature added very soon!

We are a farm who only sells locally - we want to offer a subscription box that can be picked up or delivered by us. 

If subscriptions can be shipped, we should have the ability for deliver/pick up as well. It is extra and unnecessary to charge locals for shipping; as a customer that would prevent me from purchasing it.
