I’m hoping there is some help to be had here. I’ve tried calling phone support a couple of times and get no helpful answers.
I have an employee who is 18, who uses Square timecards, and who has been paid by direct deposit regularly for a few months. But he still can’t access On Demand Pay on the Square Team app.
First I was told it was because he hadn’t received enough paychecks. Then I was told that it was probably something in the “secret” part of Square that determines who and isn’t eligible for On Demand Pay, even though I have the setting correct. It seems that this part of Square is so secret that even help desk employees are unaware how it works, and can’t find out. Hmmm. Now I’m being told that since I originally hired this employee before he was 18 (he was 15 when I first hired him), that I’m going to have to delete him and set him up all over again. I’m guessing that is going to trigger all sorts of odd things, like multiple W2s, multiple new hire reporting forms, etc. And, I’m not really satisfied with that answer since it seems to be making me do a lot of work to fix a software bug.
SO…….
Does anyone — Square or otherwise — have any helpful suggestions?
Thanks, in advance,
Chip
Hi there, @TheRealChipA - there are many different factors that go into On Demand Pay eligibility, including the most common ones you mentioned above. The Square Payroll team is looking into more ways to expand this offering to more team members.
In regards to deactivating and reactivating the employee's payroll profile, we want to ensure you that as long as a new profile is not created for this individual, they would not receive two W-2s at the end of the year. However, it may not be necessary for this specific issue. We suggest verifying that all the employee's information is up to date and they have their full legal name, home address, SSN, and DOB on file.
Feel free to reach out directly if any additional questions come up about this - if you haven't already.
