How do I see what accounts have logged into my POS terminal?
I am sure that an ex-employee was embezzling. She was logging out of the boutique account and logging into her own. She was then ringing up sales by using the keyboard function and typing in an amount (as we are currently doing at the store) pressing Charge and the customer was using their card and her account was capturing the money. She would then log out of her account and back into the boutique account and conduct business as usual.
I need to know how I can show the boutique account being logged out of and the thief logging into her own account.
Hi @Amyamaze - Thanks for reaching out to us here on the Square Seller Community. I'm very sorry to hear that this happened ๐
Unfortunately, we don't have a way to view a log of Square accounts on your device. In our reporting tools, we can see things like which employee recorded a sale, which device a sale was recorded on, and which location. But if your employee created a separate account with a separate log in, there wouldn't be any link to your account.
If you haven't already, I would suggest enabling passcode protected permissions on your account, since you're sharing this device with your employees. This would assign a personal passcode to each of them. Then, you can determine what actions they can take. For instance, you can require a manager passcode to be able to log out of the Square account on this device. To learn more, please see this article from our Support Center.
I hope this information is helpful but please do let me know if you have any additional questions.
Violet, with thousands of people having accounts, I can't believe that there is NO monitor or footprint left on my POS as to what accounts have logged in. I understand your password protects now but I believe this employee embezzled many thousand of dollars just by logging out of the business account and onto her own and taking customer payments straight to her own bank accounts. I may have to close my business I have had for 15 years because of technology.
Please continue to search to see if there is any way to track this information. If I can see every key stroke someone did in my account then I should be able to see which acounts accessed my POS.
thanks for your help
Thanks, Violet. Unfortunately she was a manager, had set the system up, and had been with me for 10 years. It's is totally unacceptable that Square has ZERO tracking or footprint for this type of occurence especially bc so many people have their own accounts. The police and the feds are FURIOUS that Square doesn't have a way to see what accounts logged in or out of a specific device. Might as well be an open kiosk in Times Square because of that vulnerability. When the owner has to hire people who control the IT and the systems there is a certain amount of trust involved. But when the trusted step outside the lines as i am stating, there should be a way to track it. Not a hard code to write.
Thanks again.
