Multiple Program Use and Surcharges

The title of this thread has been edited by a Square Moderator from the original: Using programs together???

Hi Community....

Quick question.....

Im using appointments for customers to make bookings but we are unable to add surcharges with this program so am wondering if we keep the appointments for bookings and connected to our website whether its possible to use POS Or Square retail to process our payments?? Can we use both?? We would set up the service side of the business as a retail item and then process it that way and add any retail products at the same time eg........customer has a booking and wants to purchase three clothing items I can process it all through pos or retail. BUT I will still have a record of the booking in appointments......wowsers I hope that makes sense 🙂

Any advice is welcomed. Thanks in advance

Hi @TG76.

Yes, you can use both.  Square allows us to use any POS app.  For now, that means downloading both apps and switching back and forth as needed. But you may not need to, really.  The Square Appointments app allows you to manage bookings AND sell products whether someone is just adding a product after an appointment or just buying a product on its own without an appointment.

Now… you mentioned surcharging.  Are you adding fees to cover your Square card processing costs?  If you are you need to be aware that Square currently does not allow this.  They are working on it, as evidenced by this message from the help document on service charges.  But it’s not ready yet.  If you want to charge your customers surcharges for card fees, your best bet is to add a few percentage points to your prices.  That’s what most of us do, and it works just fine.
