How can I create a discount code that's valid only on Tuesday?

The title of this thread has been edited from the original: Weekly Coupon

I want to create an online coupon code for our online orders.

For context, we are a coffeehouse and NA Bar.

I want to have "two dollar tuesdays" with $2 off the entire online order -- but I want it to happen EVERY Tuesday with the same code "2DOLLAR"

I can figure out how to make a coupon code, and how to make it apply to the whole order. And it makes sense how to give a start and end date. But I can't figure out how (or if) I can make it happen ONLY one day a week.

Is this possible?

Hi, @Wakery !

Unfortunately, Square's current discount system doesn't have a built-in feature for day-of-week restrictions on discount codes. Hopefully this is on the roadmap for the future!

Here are your options with Square:

  1. Manual Time-Based Discounts
  • Create individual discount codes for each Tuesday
  • Set specific start/end dates for each (midnight to 11:59 PM on each Tuesday)
  • This requires more management but ensures the restriction works
  1. Honor System Approach
  • Create the "2DOLLAR" code as an ongoing discount
  • Clearly communicate (in your marketing, menu, and online presence) that it's only valid on Tuesdays
  • Train staff to expect these orders on Tuesdays
  • Note that customers could technically use it any day
  1. Alternative Solution Instead of using a discount code, you could:
  • Use Square's "Automatic Discounts" feature
  • Create a Tuesday-specific menu or price list
  • This would automatically apply the discount on Tuesdays without requiring a code

The most secure way to implement this would be option #1, creating individual codes for each Tuesday, though it requires more management.

I know this probably isn't the answer you wanted, but I hope it helps.
