Hello My name is Legun

I have an account with Square. In the past I have used Square Reader to accept payment and it has worked out for me. Now, I have a customer who wants to make payment to me using a credit card by giving his credit card information. I cannot use the Reader since I don't have the physical card. I do not know how to use the credit card info to accept payment in my Square account.

Is it possible to use the credit info to accept payment in my Square account? If this is possible, how I do I go about it? Community, please help.

Solution

Hi @Alaha.  This is very possible.  You don’t say which Square POS product you use, but I’m assuming you use the standard Square POS app.  When you are ready to process the payment and press the Charge button, you should see a screen like the one below.  Just select “Manual credit card entry.”  Then you’ll need to enter the card number, expiration date, CVV code and billing zip code.  The card will be processed as if you had the card in hand.

 

Keep in mind that processing fees for manual card processing are higher, so it’s not something you want to do on a regular basis, for sure.  Also, remember that you will nee all 4 pieces of information I mentioned before — card number, expiration date, CVV code and billing zip code.  Without all 4 items, you can not do this.
