Discounts on Gift cards

Is there a way to block rewards being redeemed on a gift card purchase? We want to keep the reward as 10% off entire transaction without having to make hundreds of adjustments. We just lost out on some money today when we're already struggling to keep customers coming in during these difficult times.

 

If there isn't a way to fix it, can someone please work on this?

For example, allow a discount to be redeemed on the entire transaction, but allow us to remove certain categories or items.

Are you able to confirm which program type you have selected for your Loyalty program? For example, this can be spend-based, visit-based, item-based or category-based.

The reason I ask is that there is an option to exclude items from accruing points for spend-based Loyalty programs, which is not available for visit-based, item-based or category-based programs at this time. However, I'm not entirely sure if this will then exclude those same items when the customer wants to redeem their points. 

While I don't have this answer right now, I'll touch base with my team and come back to you with some more information.

Just circling back to you here after reaching out to my team for further advice, @Stingraybot!

 

They have advised that if you are wanting to exclude a specific item, such as Gift Cards, from your rewards program then you will need to set up your rewards by Category or Item. This way, rewards will automatically apply to eligible items moving forward.

You can follow our steps to edit your loyalty program at any time. See below to get started:
 

1) Navigate to Customers > Loyalty > Settings in your online Square Dashboard.

2) Click Edit on the section you’d like to modify.

3) Make your changes and tap Save.

Note that you can create up to 15 rewards for your Loyalty Program. If you already have 15 rewards on your account, you’ll need to delete an existing reward in order to create and apply a new reward to your program.
