I've noticed that a lot of people choose to not join the loyalty program because they don't want to give out their phone number. I know that logically they could use a fake phone number but Square is already tracking the CC info given that the returns/purchases are tied to a card.
Why not allow businesses to choose to offer rewards when using the same card?
The upside to this is that then Square Marketing is actually more targeted to those that actually want to receive text messages/emails versus those that just want to join the loyalty program.
This would only work for card payments and if they use more than one card or cash they would have to link it via a phone number.
I've just noticed hesitancy among certain demographics of my customer base and while they can opt out I feel like the whole opt in portion is almost unnecessary given that most payments are card based.
I too would like this option to be added to the loyalty program.
Even when using cash if they have created a profile it could still be under their name or email address.
