If a charge, specific item, or transaction is immediately refunded within a few minutes due to an error— whether it be the customer using the wrong card (and then recharging on another card), not realizing the price, or even simply an entry error will the merchant still be charged the processing fee on the return amount? If not, what is the window?
Hey there @Pinskers.. The fee is charged when the transaction is processed. If we refund and rerun the transaction, we are charged two fees, and there is no window. The same is true for Square -- the card networks charge them immediately and if we refund/reprocess, Square is charged two fees. This is the industry standard.
