Where to find CSR file for External SSL Certificate

Hi, I hope someone can help me.

I purchased my domain through Crazy Domains. It is connected, and my website has been published last week but it is still displaying as 'Not Secure' - i.e. the in built SSL to Square/Weebly is not working. I have contacted Crazy Domains to purchase an SSL certificate through them and they require the following:

1.) CSR file generated from your hosting provider's server (at least 2048 bits key),
2.) SERVER SOFTWARE used to generate the CSR, and
3.) Please confirm if [email protected] is fully functional. We will be using this for the Domain Control Validation process.

I can't find anywhere to get the first 2 from Square, nor any useful information on this topic.

Hi @Mel13 ,

I notice this is your first post, welcome to the seller community.

You don't need to purchase anything for this to work.

I've had a little look at your DNS, it doesn't appear to be configured correctly.

You can use a tool like google's DIG to check this:

Dig (DNS lookup) (googleapps.com)

If you enter your domain name (rainbowresins.com.au) you will notice it returns the correct address however if you enter the www address ( www.rainbowresins.com.au) you will see it returns 'address not found'.

You need to add another record (www.rainbowresins.com.au) with the same address as you've specified in the non-www address (199.34.228.164).

These changes can take a little while to propogate due to the nature of DNS. Once you think you've got it right you could use the google DIG tool to verify that the www and non-www version of your domain are returning the correct address.

See here:

Connect your domain to Square Online | Square Support Centre - AU (squareup.com)

Once you've added this record, try to re-verify the changes on the square online dashboard and the SSL should resolve itself in the next 24 hours or so.

Hopefully that resolves the issue.

Thank you for getting back to me.

so when I wrote this question the website was working and I had 2 A Records set up (I could Google rainbowresins.com.au and it would take me to my site but I’d get a warning that it wasn’t secure). One for www and one for @.

Paul from Square help services told me that I had to remove the www from my A records for the built in SSL to work, and then hasn’t got back to me since Friday.

It has been a really frustrating process trying to get replies from Square about this.

if I update my A Records to have www again what do I need to do to get the seeing on my site working?

thanks

@Mel13

I would redo the verify procedure but keep in mind, once you've got it all correct it can take around 48hrs for the SSL certificate to generate.

**Just checked and it appears you have fixed the record - your sites SSL certificate is working for me now. Sometimes your browser can cache the state of this also so try a private/incognito window if it's still not working for you. It's definitely correct now**

Well done for sticking with it, great to see you got it figured out and best wishes for your online business.

Kind Regards,

Bruce

Hi @Victelen,

Sorry to hear you've run into a similar hiccup with your SSL.

I've quickly checked your DNS records, and both of your A records seem to be pointing to the correct IP address. Since your domain is hosted outside of Square, your host should provide you with either nameservers (e.g., ‘ns1.example.com’), an IP address for use with A records (e.g., ‘199.34.228.167’), or CNAME records (e.g., ‘ghs.google.com’). For reference, we've included these guidelines in our online instructions here

What I suggest is that you check back in with your host to ensure you have the correct information entered against each of these records. Then, unpublish and publish your site again. If your SSL certificate still hasn't propogated after trying the above, please reach out to our Support Team on 1800 760 137 (Mon - Fri, 9 am - 5 pm Melbourne time), so that our team can take a closer look at these settings with you.
