Waitress Drink & Food Notifications

For those who don't have runners, how do you keep on top of waitresses getting their items? During heavy rushes, we find that waitresses aren't getting the food promptly. We use a bell to ding and also utilize handhelds. We do not utilize a KDS system.

Well, without a KDS, the only thing I can think of is to have some sort of buzzer/pager system to notify the wait team.  If you are already using a bell and that's not working, I'm not sure the pager system will help either honestly.

Anyone else?
